Michal Sofka is an R&D executive with over 17 years of experience leading the development and commercialization of advanced machine learning, AI, medical imaging, and diagnostic solutions that have significantly improved clinical care. He currently serves as CTO at Cleerly, where he leads the development of deep learning–based applications for cardiac CT imaging, enabling early detection of heart disease and advancing personalized, preventive care.
Prior to joining Cleerly, Michal led R&D for AI software powering a portable MRI platform, advancing solutions from research to clinical deployment. He developed products for routine patient care, including 3D scan analysis and image quality enhancement using advanced imaging algorithms. He also led the development of a cloud-based SaaS platform for remote MRI device management and built secure data processing pipelines for clinical integration.
Earlier in his career, Michal held senior technical and leadership roles at Butterfly Network, Cisco, and Siemens Healthineers, contributing to innovations in ultrasound, MRI, CT, and large-scale machine learning systems. He is internationally recognized as a technology leader in AI for healthcare, with more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications and over 55 patents worldwide. Michal holds MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, as well as a PhD in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
